Christian World Mission Committee

The Christian World Mission Committee promotes missionary and benevolence giving and coordinates the missionary and benevolence activities and interests within the Church and among the associations and organizations affiliated with the Church. The Committee considers all requests for gifts by the Church for religious, missionary, theological or charitable purposes.

During the past year, the Christian World Missions Committee has endeavored to fulfill its responsibilities by endorsing and supporting various local, national, and international mission projects.  Last year, at their final meeting, they voted to allot their mission donations according to the widely accepted example of allocating 1/3 of it’s money to each area of need.  This is intended to be a general guideline of how this church’s mission money would be spent.

Our local efforts have again centered on providing a monthly chicken dinner for the homeless people sheltered at Father Bill’s Place in Quincy.  We have fed approximately 120 people each month for nine months during the past three years.  In addition, we have supported Troop 22 Boy Scouts in their Annual Food Drive for the Braintree Food Pantry with a donation to the Food Pantry.

The National Association of Christian Congregational Churches (NACCC) has, through literature and personal guidance, introduced us to the needs of mission projects throughout this country and the world.  From this information the committee has selected the following causes to support:
